Fall Harvest - Day Three
October 23
Since an electric motor, on a transfer auger, had to be fixed before I needed to work, went to see how Joe was doing.
Not getting any younger when one remembers when this old Binder was new.
Combined a couple rounds while the hired man eat dinner. Only a skilled operator can combine 16 rows with an 8 row head...
...while unloading on the go.
1:45 started combining at Rocky Creek.
Lana & Elizabeth brought supper.
Sat in the captain's chair while Grandpa ate his supper.
My favorite niece wanted to ride a couple rounds with her favorite uncle. But like her Aunt Versa she brings her books in case she gets bored.
She got bored.
Books are also good for hiding one's face.
7:10 time to quit, the holding bin is full. I'm telling you harvest is lots of long hours.
