Vacation 2010 - Day 7

Friday July 2

The Alice send off only took up two days so needed something to do the other 14 days. Discovered that the Goodwood Festival of Speed was the following weekend, the rest of trip planning was connect the dots.

Goodwood tickets cost £85 or $126.39. At least I'll be able to deduct it as a business expense since I'm looking for new Hibma Estate Limo(s). The credit card company padded the exchange rate 2% plus a 2% foreign exchange fee. Time to find a different credit card. Unlike the BoA debit card the new Capital One credit worked without a hitch even thou the second time I used it was to fill the Dog's gas bowl. No fees and the padding of the exchange rate is averaging 0.5%, so far.

8:00 After a 35 mile 57 minute drive I parked behind a 356 Porsche. Believe I'm at the right place. Location

Crowds in the F1 Paddock.

The Goodwood FoS is where rich guys and race teams are invited to drive up Lord March's driveway. (Approximate start & finish of the fill climb.) When the cars are not in motion (which is 99% of the time) they are in the paddock were one can wander around looking at them.

Food tent, proof that the Goodwood FoS is not your average Goodguys car show.

1913 Fiat S74 Grand Prix was from Oregon.

1913 Fiat S74 Grand Prix with a 14 liter (854 ci) 4 cylinder pumping out 75 hp.

1905 Darracq 200hp with a 24.5 liter (1495 ci) V8 was the first car, in the US, to cover two miles in a minute (120 mph for the math challenged). Must have been quite the ride.

It was a Sea of Red Alfas in honor of the Alfa Romeo's 100 year anniversary.

Proof that Goodwood FoS is like your average Goodguys show.

The crowd checking out some of the vendors.

Some overprice junk, £50 for a DC5 Type R?

£4,250 for some overpriced art.

Who need Snap-on/Beta when there is A.B.Tools.

The major F1 teams were there with their old (last years) car...

...and mechanics standing around trying to look busy.

Except for Lotus, no mechanics just two models stood there all day, they earned their pay.
